Unfinished Oak Flooring

The Unfinished products are just that; unfinished. They're sanded ready for receiving the finish of your choice after installation, so you can literally create whatever colour and style of finish you want. Very popular in rooms with large staircases and other such features because the floor can be 'matched up' to them easily. Also popular for areas that may be subjected to some spillages because by finishing 'on-site' a 'seal' is achieved between each board, unlike with a prefinished product where only the surface of each single board is protected. This really is a 'blank canvass' ready for you to create something unique that no-one else has, or simply to match up with its surroundings. Can also be 'distressed' before being finished, which creates that 'old & used' appearance that some people want. It's your choice with this one. Features & Benefits; Unfinished Surface - Can be finished as you want on site. Unfinished Surface - Can be finished to match other room features. Unfinished Surface - Finishing on site 'seals' the floor. Unfinished Surface - We've even seen a bright red floor owned by a passionate Liverpool FC supporter!

Lacquered Oak Flooring

The Lacquered finish is achieved by applying 7 coats of UV lacquer over a primer, onto a sanded oak board, which is then also covered with an anti-scratch protection coat. This makes the board relatively hard and smooth, with a shiny satin finish, which is very easy to keep clean, so a great choice for people who suffer from allergies. This has always been a very popular choice for properties old and new because it seems to fit perfectly with all room designs and contents. Also very popular in rooms with low natural light because the floor is more shiny and smooth than the textured finishes, so brightens the room more by reflection. Will always be in demand because of it's versatility. Features & Benefits; Hard Lacquered Finish - Very hard-wearing and durable. Smooth Finish - Easy to keep clean. Shiny, Satin Finish - Reflects light to brighten the room. Lacquered Finish - Seems to suit any surroundings.

Brushed & Natural Oiled Oak Flooring

Our most popular finish by far, the Brushed & Natural Oiled finish is achieved by 'brushing' the face of the planks during manufacture to remove the softer fibres, which after oiling, enhances the beautiful grain features of natural oak and provides a slightly textured surface. Not only does this mean that scratches and marks don't show up as much as on a smooth finish, but because the waxoil colour is natural, if you ever want to darken the colour you can apply another coat of waxoil in whatever colour you choose to achieve the exact finish that you want. It's like a prefinished 'blank canvass' ready for you to create your masterpiece! This finish is also very simple to maintain with a light sanding and by applying another coat of waxoil, and should never require a total re-finish, which increases its lifespan too. No wonder we can't get enough of it! Features & Benefits: Textured Finish - Doesn't show up scratches as much as a smooth surface. Textured Finish - Enhances the beautiful grain features of oak. Oiled Finish - Easy to maintain. Natural Finish - Can be covered with another coat of waxoil (any colour) after installation to change the shade/colour. Oiled Finish - In kitchens and bathrooms (and anywhere spillages may occur) we recommend applying another coat or two of natural waxoil immediately after installation to help protect the surface of the boards and also to 'seal' between them.

Double Brushed & Dark Oiled Oak Flooring

A deep textured finish that's created by double brushing the face of the oak plank during manufacture before applying several coats of a dark waxoil to enhance the grain features, thus creating a somewhat antique appearance that is truly beautiful. Very popular in conversions and restorations because of its appearance when installed in rooms with other wood features. Also often installed in bars or restaurants where the floor will be subjected to high traffic because it doesn't show up marks and scratches like a smooth finish does. Very simple to maintain and never requires a total re-sanding of the whole area for re-finishing. Just sand the worn areas by hand and apply another coat or two of waxoil to bring the floor back to life and looking as good as new. It's very difficult to appreciate the finished appearance from a small sample and if possible, should be viewed in our showroom. Features & Benefits; Double Brushed - Very deep texture doesn't show scratches and marks as much as a smooth finish. Double Brushed - Enhances the beautiful grain features of oak. Dark Oiled - Enhances the grain even more. Oiled Finish - Easy to maintain. Oiled Finish - In kitchens and bathrooms (and anywhere spillages may occur) we recommend applying another coat or two of natural waxoil immediately after installation to help protect the surface of the boards and also to 'seal' between them.
