News: August 4th...
Yahoo!!! Our promotion continues during August, so the price for your beautiful new oak flooring is staying low for another month!
Reasons are that the exchange rate (£ v $) has improved a little for us, so our increasing costs have been negated by this fact, making us as competitive as ever.
During the past 2 months we've had many people asking us "what's the catch with your prices?", and our response is always "there is no catch".

Although our prices are lower than the other online suppliers, we are constantly told that our quality is far better. You may think that we should increase our prices (a recent business adviser actually suggested this) but not us!
We love being told that our prices should be higher, so we'll always aim to keep this feedback going because we believe in offering value for money, which in itself spreads the word about our service and quality.

News: July 8th...
Our promotion prices are showing that there are still many people who know a good deal when they see one, even in the current climate.

At OakFloorsOnline, we appreciate that no-one really knows what's going to happen over the next year or two, and just how difficult things may become for some individuals, families, and businesses. That's why we always try to offer realistic prices for our high quality flooring products, thus creating a win-win situation for our loyal customers and ourselves. You save money and we turn our stock over whilst making a small profit. Of course we would like to make more profit for stocking all the products that we do but we must be supportive of the industry and market conditions, whilst supporting our customers as much as we can.

The currency exchange rate is fluctuating a little (we buy all our flooring in USD), so it's proving very difficult to forecast what's going to happen with prices over the next 3-6 months. Please be assured that we'll do our utmost to keep prices down for you.

News: June 15th...
At OakFloorsOnline, we are constantly making efforts to keep our prices as low as possible for the high quality we supply, so to combat the difficult economic climate we all find ourselves within, we've just negotiated and agreed a rebate scheme with our manufacturer for June and July 2010.

This means that we have reduced all our prices across the range, which makes our prices VERY competitive indeed.

Yes, there are still cheaper products available out there but they don't come anywhere near our quality. What's the point in saving a few pounds on the purchase of your flooring when it costs you 3 times as much to put the floor right after installation? Sometimes when you buy a 'cheap' oak floor, the remedial work costs more than the flooring itself!

So, if you're thinking about buying a beautiful, guaranteed oak floor... order by the end of July and save money!

News: 2nd June 2010...
Our new website is launched and the feedback has already been very positive!
We've kept the site easy and simple to navigate but now orders can be placed online, safely and securely with our 3D Secure payment system supplied by Barclays.
Ordering online like this is like wandering through your favourite supermarket, simply adding things to your basket before checking out.
Over the next few weeks we'll be adding more and more products to the site, as and when we become more familiar with the functionality, along with the demand.
Our Google rankings have dropped slightly because of the website 'changeover' but it won't be long before we're back on page 1 for all the most common searched for 'oak flooring' keywords and phrases.

Prices are on the 'up'...
Our oak comes from Russia and prices have increased month on month recently, whilst the shipping companies have also increased their prices. This has resulted in an uncertain time for us because we like to pass on any change in our prices to our customers as soon as we can, whether that's an increase or decrease.

We buy everything in USD, so the fluctuation in value against the GBP has also effected things recently. A week or so ago it was down as low as $1.40 per £1.00 but today it's up to around $1.46, so a little better for us. This will hopefully improve even more, and if it does, we won't have to increase our prices again during this month. We don't like changing our prices because it gets confusing for our customers and our staff, with quotes forever being different from the website prices, thus making it impossible for people to order online because the prices don't match up.
We don't want to go down the route of 'fixing' our prices like most companies do because we feel this is unfair to our customers. If our price reduces, our selling prices reduce too.
When buying oak flooring in full, 12-pallet containers (usually 4-6 containers per order), a few cents change in the exchange rate can make a huge difference to our costs.

The market...
There is still some confusion and uncertainty surrounding the government situation and just what's going to happen over the next 3-9 months. Many of us are expecting our living costs to increase, so rightfully so we're delaying any planned refurbishment work such as new oak flooring, at least until we are more confident in the economy situation.

This is having a negative effect on most industries but we're confident that things will improve. We have maintained a healthy order book during the 'tough' recent months, which is mostly due to the quality and value for money our products provide.
Our opinion is that no matter what the market place dictates, we all want value for money when we buy something, so that's what our focus is always on.
We will never reduce our quality just to compete on price with other companies that are price-driven, and we make no apologies for that. We believe quality is of paramount importance to our success as a company, and to the successfull installation of our products on-site.

Just took delivery of our flooring and it is wonderful, very happy with the quality.  Couple of the boxes damaged by the courier but on first apperance wood looks o.k.Thank you for all your help and advice in buying your flooring, would recommend you to others, infact already have done so!!
