Terms and Conditions
The Warranties described below are given to
the original purchaser only, and are subject to the procedures,
limitations, disclaimers, and exclusions set forth herein.
The Warranties cover only
approved product applications as recommended by the Oak Flooring
supplier, OakFloorsOnline.co.uk. This warranty only covers
residential usage of the product. Solid and engineered floors
are manufactured in accordance with accepted industry standards,
which permit a defect tolerance not to exceed 5%. The defects
may be of a manufacturing or natural type. This 5% allowance is
not valid under this warranty and it is the owner’s and
installer’s responsibility for all products after installation.
This warranty applies only to material in excess of 5% that is
deemed to be defective. The conditions of this warranty shall
only apply when the proper installation procedures provided are
followed. This warranty shall not apply to solid oak floors that
are installed in a basement, directly on a concrete slab that
has more than 10% moisture content, onto a substandard OSB
(pressed wood) floor, nor in a room equipped with an in-floor
radiant heating system for boards over 90mm wide. All guidelines
in the underfloor heating section must be strictly adhered to
for this warranty to apply.
Installer
and Purchaser Responsibility
Should you wish to return the flooring after having received a
sample and confirming the order we will only be able to refund
the cost of the flooring less a restocking charge of 20%, and
not the transport cost. It is crucial that all installations are
done in compliance with the procedures outlined in the company’s
installation and maintenance instructions provided. Failure to
install in accordance with the instructions and to properly
maintain as recommended will void all warranties. No warranty
coverage is provided for flooring that contains obvious defects
of any kind that were installed nonetheless. It is the
installer’s and purchaser’s responsibility to set aside pieces
with visible defects and to not use them. Make sure that the
flooring meets the purchaser’s expectations prior to
installation. Likewise, it is the installer and purchaser’s
responsibility to check that the moisture content of the
uninstalled flooring is within the acceptable range of 6% to 9%
prior to installation. The installer and purchaser are also
responsible for ensuring that the subfloor has acceptable
moisture content and that the relative humidity conditions at
the site are suitable (35% to 55% relative humidity) prior to
installation. It is the installer and purchaser’s responsibility
to inspect the flooring prior to installation and to install the
floor in a random and harmonious mix, and with good workmanship.
Oak Flooring is a natural product and variations of shade and
finish are expected and accepted by the purchaser. This warranty
does not apply to claims made on pieces of flooring installed
with color/grain variation and this warranty does not cover poor
workmanship by the installer. Once the flooring has been
installed, the installer and purchaser have deemed the flooring
acceptable and the company assumes no further responsibility for
defects visible at the time of installation or moisture/humidity
problems.
Guarantees
Our Lifetime Quality Guarantee – The lifetime quality
guarantee is dependent on the flooring being installed by a
qualified fitter and in accordance to our fitting instructions.
No refund will be offered if the flooring is subjected to excess
heat, moisture, or humidity because these extremes will affect
the Oak Floor’s performance and dimensional stability. No terms
of warranty can be offered for problems arising from these
causes or any other that may subject the flooring to unusual and
extreme conditions that are known to affect the structure and
dimensional movement of a natural product like wood flooring.
This lifetime guarantee covers
defects in materials and workmanship regarding the flooring
product only, and does not apply to other products used, their
effect upon the flooring, or other costs incurred by the
owner/installer.
Our Satisfaction Guarantee –
Obviously any returned flooring must be in a re-saleable
condition and re-packed and banded within the original cartons
it was supplied.
If there is any doubt regarding
product quality and acceptability when the delivery arrives,
before any permanent installation takes place, the flooring
should be laid out without fixing down and inspected prior to
any installation work. This is an acceptable appearance
guarantee only and the quality of the flooring is covered by our
Lifetime Quality Guarantee detailed above.
By fitting the flooring supplied, acceptance of suitability and
quality is determined.
On return of the product, because
an external courier is used, no refund can be provided for
delivery or return charges.
Our Value For Money Guarantee –
Documented proof of grade and source are required from the
supplier of the flooring that our product is being compared with
before any agreement about the refund can be made. An up-to-date
finished floor image and sample are also required, so that we
can compare the finished appearance and quality of machining
against our product.
We are confident that no other company within the UK can offer a
similar quality as ourselves at better rates.
Extra Info Ref Guarantees –
No compensation, discount or refund will be offered for any
indirect costs such as installation charges, delivery charges,
labour charges, inspection charges etc…
Any claim must be formalised in a written letter and must be
submitted to the seller along with the original receipt for the
goods supplied.
The above guarantees do not apply to products that have been
subjected to excess wear and tear or treated in an adverse
manner not common with the use of wood flooring. Surface defects
and general scratches must be expected and accepted after the
flooring is installed and used normally, so no compensation will
be offered for this type of common usage appearance.
The above guarantees apply only to the purchaser of the product.
These guarantees cannot be ‘passed on’ to other owners.
Additional Warranty Disclaimers and
Exclusions
In addition to all the above stated warranty disclaimers and
exclusions, this warranty shall not apply to all of the
following:
-
Water damage to the flooring
caused by broken or leaking pipes
-
Damage to the flooring caused by
flooding, other natural disasters, and Acts of God
-
Damage to the flooring caused by
improper handling, shipping and storage
-
Installation of the flooring in an
environment outside of the 35% to 55% relative humidity range
-
Installation of the flooring on a
moist, damp, wet or leaking or otherwise unsuitable subfloor
-
Improper alterations and
maintenance of the original manufactured product
-
Failure to follow all the
manufacturer’s written installation and maintenance instructions
-
And no warranties shall apply to
any product or products designated and sold as clearance or
non-standard items. Any product or products so designated are
sold “as is”.
If in the unlikely event any
portion of your floor should fail with respect to the provisions
of these warranties, the flooring will be replaced (material
only), at no cost to the original purchaser, with the same
product or another product of equal value. Claims must be filed
within the warranty coverage period and receipt verifying date
of purchase and the ownership of the products will be required.
The company warranties are not transferable and the warranties
are valid ONLY if the owner can provide an original proof of
purchase. The company reserves the right to have a designated
company representative inspect the floors and remove samples for
technical analysis. No distributor, installer, retailer, agent
or employee has the authority to alter the obligations or
limitations of any company warranty.
After
Completion Of The Installation:
-
At completion of the installation,
vacuum thoroughly and clean the floor with proper wood flooring
cleaner on a soft, cloth mop. Then carefully wipe the surface
clean to remove loose dirt or soil, making sure there are no
abrasive materials on the surface that could scratch the floor.
-
Reinstall all base and/or quarter
round moldings. Nail the moldings into the wall, not the floor.
-
Install any transition pieces that
may be required, such as reducers, T-moldings and stair nosing.
-
Keep several spare boards from the
installation in the event of future repairs and maintenance

Floor
Care and Maintenance Guidelines
-
Remove loose dirt and grit from
the floor on a routine basis using a soft broom or vacuum. It is
important that abrasives are removed from the flooring because
they can scratch the floor finish.
-
Promptly wipe up liquid or food
spills with a soft, clean cloth.
-
The floor can be cleaned with a
clean and dry soft cloth. DO NOT use a wet mop, damp mop or use
water to clean the floor unless you are using one of the
recommended maintenance kits.
-
It is recommended that area rugs
are placed in kitchen areas and high traffic areas. Ensure that
the rugs used are made of a breathable material so that moisture
can escape (i.e. do not use rugs with a vinyl or solid rubber
backing).
-
Equip rolling furniture with soft
rubber chair casters and fit furniture legs with felt tips.
Always use a dolly and protective sheets of plywood when moving
heavy objects, furniture or appliances. Never roll or slide
objects directly on the floor.
-
Place mats at outside entrances,
and clean shoes on mats before walking on the floor so as to
avoid tracking dirt and abrasives onto the floor.
• Do not walk on the floor in shoes with spiked or damaged heels
or sport shoes with spikes or cleats.
-
Keep pets nails trimmed to avoid
scratching the floor and their paws clean and free of dirt.
-
Use curtains, blinds, drapes or
other suitable means to protect the floor from direct exposure
to sunlight. Exposure of the flooring to the sunlight will alter
the color of the floor and could possibly cause movement of the
floor boards in some extreme cases. This is a natural reaction
for wood floors which is not considered a defect and not covered
by the warranty.
It must be understood that an Oak
Floor is a natural product that will behave and react/respond to
the conditions it is within and subjected to, so excess heat,
moisture, or humidity will effect the Oak Floor’s performance
and dimensional stability. No terms of warranty can be offered for problems arising
from these causes.
